The United States Post Graduation for Bangladeshi Students Covid-19 Update

Introduction

According to the 2020 Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange, more than 8,800 Bangladeshi students chose to study in the United States during the 2019/2020 academic year, in honor of International Education Week (IEW), November 16-20, 2020, a joint US Department of State and US Department of Education initiative. Bangladesh has reached a new all-time high, with a 7.1 percent growth over the previous year’s record (8,249 pupils), more than tripling since 2009. The United States Embassy in Dhaka has made promoting educational exchanges between Bangladesh and the United States a strategic priority.

Why post-graduation is great in the US for BD students?

The United States has more international students than any other country in the world. There are currently over one million of them. Let’s have a look at a few of the reasons for this.

Universities with the highest rankings in the world

The United States has a well-developed and high-quality tertiary education system. According to the 2017-2018 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, it has seven of the top ten universities in the world. In fact, the United States is home to 33 of the top 100 universities in the world [source: QS World Ranking 2019].

Unique curriculum and high-quality education

The United States’ educational system is well-known around the world. Students who attend US institutions benefit from a liberal arts education, which is one of the reasons they are so successful after graduation. This entails a concentration on areas beyond one’s major, such as mathematics, sciences, philosophy, history, and literature.

Language abilities in English

In the United States, English is the primary language spoken, and all courses are taught in English. You’ll be able to improve your talents and make yourself more appealing to companies. Most US campuses have English language programs tailored to international students, as well as study groups and mentoring programs where you may put your language skills to the test.

Research and development

The United States is a leader in scientific and creative innovation. Large research institutes, particularly in the United States, provide opportunities for students to work side by side with their instructors in the lab or workshop, applying what they’ve learned in class. Universities in the United States enthusiastically promote their faculty members’ fieldwork, and information on research possibilities for students is widely available.

How Covid-19 had affected the abroad studying facilities in the US?

Whatever your circumstances, one thing to remember is that studying abroad is still a viable option. The majority of universities, particularly in Europe, allow international students. In addition, visa application centers are beginning to reopen, and the vast majority of institutions have devised contingency plans in the event of further lockdowns, limitations, or travel bans.

It’s also important recalling that in a post-COVID world, the global view of the future is usually favorable. Governments have begun to respond to unexpected issues, and several safety precautions have been developed, such as mass testing and “track and trace” systems.

In terms of healthcare, the majority of European students will be covered in the event of an emergency. This isn’t always the case, though. Always check the laws of the country you’re visiting. Health insurance will almost certainly be required for anyone traveling into or out of the European Union. It’s also a good idea to find out if you’ll require a COVID-19 PCR test before you fly or when you get to your campus country.

Covid situation in both BD and the US

The UK

  • Regardless of immunization status or country, all inbound international travelers must test within one day of departure.
  • Beginning November 8, the White House stated that COVID-19 travel restrictions for fully vaccinated international visitors will be lifted, erasing historic restrictions that had prohibited much of the world from visiting the US for up to 21 months.
  • Covid-19 forced significant changes in US rules controlling international student status and visas last year.
  • The US government had chosen to continue recognizing electronic or digital travel signatures on immigration forms issued by schools in order to comply with ongoing pandemic-related limitations.
  • DSOs can either sign the paperwork physically or electronically, according to the rules. After that, the student can download and print the signed form in order to show it at the mandatory visa interview.
  • According to a new study by the National Foundation for American Policy (NFAP), international students in the United States are a tremendous source of talent for companies and also help US colleges provide high-quality science and engineering education.

Bangladesh

  • If you are able to go to Bangladesh despite global limitations from Australia or another country, you must have a health certificate showing that you are not infected with Coronavirus and are now COVID-symptom free, received no more than 72 hours before departure. This medical certificate must be presented upon arrival in Bangladesh (airport, seaport, or land port).
  • After that, you can be told to stay in quarantine for two weeks. At the entry ports, health inspectors would decide whether they would be self-quarantined or placed in government-run facilities.
  • Diplomatic, official, and Laissez-Passer holders posted in diplomatic missions in Bangladesh, as well as their family members (if they have a regular passport) who have valid visas, will not be required to produce a medical certificate.
  • If a person of Bangladeshi descent has an NVR and arrives in Bangladesh without the appropriate medical certificate stating that the individual is free of Corona Virus symptoms, he or she will be institutionalized for 14 (fourteen) days.
  • If a person of Bangladesh origin has an NVR and arrives in Bangladesh with the required medical certificate stating that the person is free of Corona Virus symptoms, he or she will be quarantined at home for 14 (fourteen) days.

Health Protocols

  • Within three (3) days after arriving in Bangladesh in the US, all visitors must complete a Passenger Health Declaration Form (HDF). When visitors arrive at the port of entry, the HDF will create a QR code, which they must be prepared to show to immigration officials.
  • Travelers who are properly vaccinated against COVID-19 can enter the US with official proof of immunization regardless of the port of entry. There is no need for a PCR or any other COVID-19 test that is negative.
  • Fully vaccinated, according to the US government, is having received the entire regimen (one or two doses, as appropriate) of a WHO-approved vaccine. A booster dose is not required at this time.
  • Travelers who have not been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 must have a negative COVID-19 RT PCR test report obtained within 72 hours before departure.
  • Children under the age of 12 are exempt from the testing and vaccine requirements, but they must follow the same health protocols as their family members when they arrive.
  • Those who exhibit COVID-19 symptoms upon arrival may be quarantined and compelled to do an RT PCR COVID-19 test, the results of which will decide the length of confinement.

List of Approved Vaccines

  • AstraZeneca
  • Moderna
  • Pfizer
  • Sinopharm
Conclusion

To survive in Australia, students are urged to rely on family support, part-time work if possible, and their own funds. It’s worth noting that international students had to show that they could support themselves totally in their first year as part of their visa application.
